Here in Maine, we are pretty familiar with classified ads. They are synonymous with a publication called, “Uncle Henry’s.” It is a local/statewide buy, sell, swap or trade guide for Maine. You can find anything and sell anything in this periodical.
You may have heard about Uncle Henry’s if you have seen the History Channel’s show, “Downeast Dickerin’.” from IMDB: “Who needs Craigslist when you have Uncle Henry’s? Never heard of Uncle Henry’s? Then you probably don’t live Down East (in Maine), because it’s a popular magazine filled with classified ads.”
Uncle Henry’s is not really known as a huge online resource. It is more of a “stop at the local convenience store and buy a copy” type of thing. They do, however, have a website.
If you live in Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island or even northern Connecticut you can check out their printed classified publications in stores all over or get a subscription and have it mailed directly to you. Every print book includes their famous Free Ad Form, entitling you to a free classified ad!
“Uncle Henry’s is the destination for buying, selling and swapping just about anything. We’ve been in business since 1970 (that’s 53 years folks!), and no one does classified ads like us. We have two print publications, our classified website and numerous mobile apps and other offerings to keep you buying and selling to your heart’s content.”
